I am currently working in the area of Simulation optimization, with my advisors Shane Henderson and Huseyin Topaloglu. We are trying to apply techniques from the field of approximate dynamic programming to the problem of ambulance relocation (redeployment) in real time. This is the problem of relocating available ambulances in a city to guarantee good coverage for future calls. Our research combines many ideas from probability, queueing theory, and combinatorial optimization and applies them to real life problems.
