[KEYOP] Fermium/Systeme-D Marcel ripple cp Blether MP3s Muso Links

Bristol electro-pop band -- no longer pimping millets, from what I can tell. Read about Andrew's and Steve's exploits here (local copy), at the Choke magazine website. The rest of this blurb on [KEYOP] is even more horrendously out of date...

In the summer of 2000 we recorded a single, Hogjam, at Bink Bonk studios in Bristol, which is now available here in mp3 format, with Factotum. We have an old single available on the "Avon Scrawling" CD, showcasing the best of Bristol music (with the likes of Mooz, Madnomad, Shelbyville). As part of this promotion we played Torrington House, Finchley Park, on the 12th July 2000 (read a review at www.phase9.net), and Bath Moles on the 24th August 2000.

Below you can find some of our old tracks as mp3s, several of which I remastered from very old tape copies, so expect tape hiss akimbo. "We Hate Andrew Song" was a previous single on the now defunct flexi:POP! label, and now appears on the Avon Scrawling compilation.

For media flattery and/or confusion see here, here, an ickle interview in the Archive at www.reverb.co.uk ( here is a local copy), usually here, possibly here, but never here.

Reviews of [KEYOP] have been pretty abstract...

"[KEYOP] lay a woozy, lo-fi mallet on things with their NME-approved, out-there noise. Imagine a coachload of choirboys hijacked by a nun out of her skull on theremin..." - Venue magazine

"Weirdy keyboard geniuses" - NME

"[KEYOP] are the heavy weight champs of kazoo solos, beats, pop raids and freaky dancin'" - Venue magazine, after Ashton Court 1999

"A huge floating spectral doughnut" - Melody Maker, on We Hate Andrew Song
[KEYOP] in 2000 (L-R): Chesty, Robot, Tab, Chip

Hello, this is Marcel's website
Marcel official website

Around 2000/2001 I played drums for a London band called Marcel. And what a wonderful thing that was....

There a couple of now-ancient mp3s recorded from rehearsal sessions here, and newer, more delightful ones on the myspace website.

My lone dabblings in electronica, including mp3s from 1998-2001.

Fermium Project / Systeme-D

In the winter of 2000 I collaborated with Rich LaBarca in Pittsburgh, USA, on his long-running techno project Fermium. We had just one month to produce, rehearse and record a live set. Although still needing some armchair head-scratchin to improve the production and other technical aspects, we have 11 live tracks (as mp3s), recorded at one of our Pittsburgh performances. The set is called exchanged element and features a remix of Orbital's Halcyon+On+On and Underworld's Cups & Pearl's Girl.

Feb 2001 : Some MP3 versions of the set available from this mirror

March 2001: US MTV's Undressed show have accepted an application from us to provide some backing music for one or more episodes, taken from our exchanged element set

April 2001: We have a new live set called Remote, to be performed at CMU Kresge Theater, College of Fine Arts, Pittsburgh, on May 7th at 8.30pm.

Summer 2001: At least four tracks of EE have appeared on the soundtrack to current episodes of MTV's Undressed, but we haven't seen it to know which tracks! As if we'd watch that show, heheh.

Autumn 2001: Rich oodled new noodles at the 2001 EMO show in Pittsburgh, at The Underground. Three tracks are available below

Winter 2001: Rich has just finished a Flash video for the track StreamEngine. (See the main website under releases...)

SNIP!

Summer 2002: Rich moves to Boston. Everyone is happy. But new tracks are taking their time :(

2004: Your Favorite CDs 1 - 4 are available for download, but are no longer hosted at fermiumproject.org (2007) -- maybe they're on systeme-d.org ;)

2006: Rich is in Long Island, I'm in Ithaca. But we're still collaborating on the production of new Systeme-D mash-ups in podcast form.

Blether

In 2007 I Blethered way back when it was just beginning to be cool.
